Freaks, Oddities and Errors

In the stamp collecting (philatelic) world, freaks, oddities and errors are desirable. Production mistakes on USPS stamps, such as color shifts and misaligned perforations are rare. Stamp errors, such as the famed inverted “Jenny” airplane airmail stamp, are even rarer.
ForeverStamps.com has obtained a unique sheet of Forever Stamp freak color shifts. With a 5 billion print run, it remains to be seen how many freaks and errors escaped the scrutinizing eye of the USPS quality control.

Here are a few interesting links on stamp errors.

I bought 40 Forever stamps in 2 sets of 20 and the two sets have a different color of the ‘Forever’ as indicated in the example.

There are four versions of the Forever Stamp and each feature slightly different colors, size of the Liberty Bell, and font size on the “forever” microprint. From left to right: (1) convertible booklet with large microprint and 16 mm Liberty Bell; (2) convertible booklet with small microprint and 16 mm Liberty Bell; (3) convertible booklet with medium microprint and 15 mm Liberty Bell; (4) ATM booklet.
